- Formalize structures: Meet at scheduled intervals for a specific period of time

Peer Coaching Is Not:
- Peer coaching is not mentoring. Peers work on things together without a power dynamic. Peer coaching is not advising or guiding.
- Peer coaching is not chatting with a friend. It differs from a conversation with a friend in terms of structure. You stick to schedules and explicit goals.
- Peer coaching is not sharing of technical expertise.
- Peer coaching is not rescuing. It is a basic human impulse to care for the vulnerable. But stepping in as a rescuer for the coachee means denying them ownership of the issue.
- Peer coaching is not mental health counseling. Oftentimes, peer coaching is personal development, which means conversations often wander into emotional realms. If a partner’s concerns seem to require more or different sorts of feedback, the peer coach needs to speak suggest professional counseling.
